Elene Stone, 74, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away, Tuesday, May 6, 1999 at St. Mary's Health Center. She was born December 28, 1924 in Cape Girardeau the daughter of Finis and Rachel Toner Stone. She was a graduate of Jackson High School. She was employed by the Missouri Baptist Convention as Assistant Editor of the Word and Way Publications for many years. ...

Elene Stone, 74, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away, Tuesday, May 6, 1999 at St. Mary's Health Center.

She was born December 28, 1924 in Cape Girardeau the daughter of Finis and Rachel Toner Stone. She was a graduate of Jackson High School.

She was employed by the Missouri Baptist Convention as Assistant Editor of the Word and Way Publications for many years. As a member of the First Baptist Church of Jefferson City, she was active in the church choir, was a Sunday School teacher and served in many other areas of church work. She also assisted on committees for the Community Concert in Jefferson City.

She is survived by one brother and sister-in-law: Jerry L. and Nancy K. Stone of Cape Girardeau; one niece, Stephanie A. Stone of St. Louis. She was preceded by her father, mother, step-mother and one sister.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m.-12 noon Monday, May 10, 1999 at the First Baptist Church in Jefferson City, Mo.

Funeral Services will follow at 12 noon at the church, with Rev. David Phelps officiating.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 11, 1999 at the Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson, Mo. by the Rev. Ron Watts of the LaCroix United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Hospice of Jefferson City and Mid-Missouri or the First Baptist Church Music Fund in Jefferson City. Arrangements are under the directions of McCombs Funeral Home of Jackson, Mo. 573-243-2424.
