SCOTT CITY -- Opal Mae Bass, 86, of Scott City died Friday, May 7, 1999, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Ill.

She was born Sept. 2, 1912, in Missouri, daughter of James Walter and Roxie Ann McGuire Smith. She married Buford Bass Sr. He died Jan. 26, 1979.

Survivors include a son, Buford Bass Jr. of Cahokia, Ill.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City from 4-9 p.m. Sunday.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the chapel. The Rev. William Dickey will officiate. Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery.
