MARBLE HILL -- Ray E. "Jack" Shell, 89, died Sunday, May 9, 1999, at Parkway Manor Nursing Home in Marion, Ill.

He was born Feb. 27, 1910, at Dongola, Mo., son of William A. and Rosa Stuckey Shell. His first wife, Dorothy, died in 1979. He later married Elsie Bennett, who died in November 1990.

Shell owned and operated Angler Fishing Rod Co. in St. Clair, Mich., 32 years. He retired in 1980 and lived in Benton, Ill., and Leesburg, Fla.

He attended Immanuel Baptist Church. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, and member of a Shrine Club.

Survivors include a sister, Versa Elledge of LaPorte, Ind., and three stepsons.

He was preceded in death by five sisters and a brother.

Friends may call at Morton and Johnston Funeral Home in Benton, Ill., from 6-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Roger Ellsworth officiating. Graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. at Baker Cemetery in Marble Hill.
