Funeral for Patricia Johnson of Ellington, formerly of Cape Girardeau, was held May 6 at McSpadden Funeral Home in Ellington. The Revs. Carlton Mathes and Tom Johnson officiated. Burial was in Ellington Memorial Cemetery.

Johnson, 81, died Monday, May 3, 1999, at Brent B. Tinnin Manor in Ellington.

She was born March 21, 1918, at Oran, daughter of Lyman A. and Florence Swink Matthews. She and John A. Johnson were married June 27, 1941, at Alton. He died July 26, 1961.

Johnson was a graduate of Farmington High School, attended Southeast Missouri State University, and Lindenwood College in St. Charles.

She was a teacher at Ellington, Farmington and Perryville schools. She was a charter member of Ellington Garden Club, and a member of Oran Methodist Church.

Survivors include five sons, John Johnson Jr. of Branson, James Johnson of Kirkwood, Robert Johnson of Ellington, William Johnson of DeSoto, Thomas Johnson of St. Charles; a daughter, Mary Spindler of Rockford, Ill.; and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers.
