EAST PRAIRIE -- Funeral for Eugene Ray "Gene" McIllwain of East Prairie will be held at 1 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. The Rev. George White will officiate. Burial will be in East Prairie Memorial Park.

McIllwain, 62, died Wednesday, May 12, 1999, at East Prairie Nursing Center.

He was born Oct. 25, 1936, at East Prairie, son of J.W. and Bessie Duncan McIllwain.

McIllwain lived in East Prairie most of his life. He was a retired farmer.

Survivors include two sons, Scott McIllwain of Uvalde, Texas, Steve McIllwain of Alabama; a brother, Robert McIllwain of East Prairie; five sisters, Pauline Machalk and Charlene Hutchison of Crossville, Tenn., Iva Lawley and Alfreda Thresher of East Prairie, Bobbie Widdows of Marquette Heights, Ill.; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
