Irene M. Whitener, 79, died Tuesday, May 18, 1999, at Fountainbleau Lodge.

She was born Nov. 28, 1919, at Oran, daughter of Samuel Harve and Hattie Roberts Crader. She and Wray Whitener were married April 8, 1939, in Cape Girardeau.

Whitener was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband; six sisters, Wanda Hall of Marble Hill, Dorothy Richards of Creve Coeur, Marjorie Clubb of Cape Girardeau, Marie Talley of St. Peters, Lorene Withers of St. Johns, Hester Leadbetter of Blodgett; two brothers, Samuel Crader of Bunker Hill, Ill., J.C. Crader of Marble Hill; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, a stepson, three brothers, three sisters, and two half brothers.

Friends may call at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel from 5:30-7:30 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Mark Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
