Carl E. Masterson, 76, of 1310 Jefferson St. died Tuesday, May 18, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born June 21, 1923, the son of Garnell and Rispa Johnson Masterson.

He married Betty J. Wood in Cape Girardeau in 1967. She died June 5, 1996.

He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau. He was a truck driver for Campbell Mattress Co.

He is survived by four sisters, Ruby Statler, Inez McClendon, Maggie Holland and Dorothy Kimler, all of Cape Girardeau.

He also was preceded in death by a sister.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson with Dr. John Owen officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel.
