Bloomfield -- David Holyfield, 55, of Bloomfield died Friday, April 24, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born at Hattieville, Ark., son of Orval and Lucy Rackley Holyfield.

He married Joy Lynn Little on June 8, 1964. She survives.

He lived in Bloomfield most of his life and worked as a supervisor at the Stoddard County Sheltered Workshop for several years until retiring for health reasons.

He is survived by a son, David Clay Holyfield of Bunker; two daughters, Kelly Burch of Dexter and Angie Britt of Piggott, Ark.; four brothers, O.V. Holyfield of Pinckneyville, Ill., Rayburn K. Holyfield of Grafton, Ill., William Thomas Holyfield of Bell City, and Roy Allen Holyfield of Wewachtcha, Fla; five sisters, Lou Etta Clark Oliver of Wright City; Emma Lee Hedrick of Russellville, Ark., Barbara Townsend of Dexter, Jane Pickerell of Indianapolis, Ind., and Joyce Staggs of Bonneville, Ark.; and a grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a brother.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jerry Cooper of Bloomfield officiating. Burial will follow in the North Antioch Cemetery near Bloomfield.
