CLARE CHAPPIUS

PERRYVILLE -- Clare E. Chappius, 89, of Perryville died Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998, at Perry County Nursing Home in Perryville.

She was born Nov. 17, 1908, at New Hamburg, the daughter of William and Madgalina LeGrand Essner. She married Floyd E. "Snubby" Chappius on Oct. 28, 1944, at Blytheville, Ark. He died April 9, 1992.

Chappius was a shoe cutter at International Shoe Factory before her retirement. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Perryville.

Survivors include a nephew and niece.

She was preceded in death by seven brothers and five sisters.

Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 6:30 to 9:50 a.m. at the Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville. There will be a parish wake service on Tuesday at 7. The rosary will be recited on Wednesday at 9 at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Perryville, with the Rev. Gerard P. Kelly officiating. Burial will be at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Perryville.
