RONALD GROTH

Ronald C. Groth, 52, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 17, 1945, in Gatesville, Texas, son of Howard G. and Ruth L. Spence Groth. He and Nancy M. Springer were married Nov. 6, 1997, at South Padre Island, Texas.

Groth was a graduate of Winslow High School in Winslow, Ark., graduate of parachute school and attended administration classes in the military.

He retired in 1994 as a computer assistant draftsman with AT&T. He was a member of VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau, and American Legion Post 205 in Harlingen, Texas.

Groth served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He received the Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal, Parachutist Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Expert Rifle Medal, Sharpshooter Medal, and Marksman Medal.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Steven Groth of St. Charles, Darrin Groth of Lansing, Mich.; his parents of LaFeria, Texas; three stepdaughters, Tammy Stoeckel of Chaffee, Beth Johnson of Marble Hill, Sarah McGee of Glen Allen; two brothers, Randell Groth of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Paul Groth of Seabeck, Wash.; a sister, Sondra Goulette of Dayton, Ohio; a grandchild; and four stepgrandchildren.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Cy Smith officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park, with military rites conducted by VFW Post 3838.
