WENDEL DAVIS

ANNA, Ill. -- Wendel Davis, 85, of Anna died Monday, Feb. 16, 1998, at his home.

He was born Feb. 14, 1913, in Johnson County, son of Alexander and Mary Jane "Polly" Burklow Davis. He and Wilhelma Pearce were married July 28, 1935. She died Dec. 7, 1985.

Davis was retired from Anna Mental Health Center and had also farmed. He was a member of Anna Heights Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Wilma Booth of Elgin; a son, Wendel Davis of Anna; four sisters, Mary Landis of Metropolis, Eva Stokes of Goreville, Mable Russell of McAllen, Texas, Elva Manus of Anna; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Anna from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Floyd Stout officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery at Buncombe.
