EAST PRAIRIE -- Sidney Dalton Gentles, 56, of East Prairie died Sunday, March 1, 1998, at East Prairie Nursing Center. He was born March 16, 1941, at New Madrid, son of James Robert and Jean Eulene Pugh Gentles Sr. He lived in Mississippi County most of his life where he was employed as a truck driver. EAST PRAIRIE -- Sidney Dalton Gentles, 56, of East Prairie died Sunday, March 1, 1998, at East Prairie Nursing Center.

He was born March 16, 1941, at New Madrid, son of James Robert and Jean Eulene Pugh Gentles Sr.

He lived in Mississippi County most of his life where he was employed as a truck driver. He was a member of St. Henry's Catholic Church in Charleston and VFW Post 4294.

Survivors include a son, Sidney Dalton Gentles Jr. of Shawneetown, Ill.; two brothers, James Robert Gentles of Shawneetown and Wayne Gentles of East Prairie; three sisters, Betty Emerick of Front Royal, Va., Linda Lopes of Jackson, N.C., and Charlotte Gilkerson of East Prairie; and a granddaughter.

Friends may call from 5:30 to 8 p.m. today at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Henry's Catholic Church. The Rev. Rich Lause will officiate. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery west of Charleston.
