LEOPOLD -- Sylvester T. Engelen, 57, of Leopold died Friday, March 6, 1998, at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Feb. 11, 1941, at Leopold, son of Paul and Mary Bueter Engelen. On Aug. 25, 1963, he married Catherine Landewee at Leopold.
He was employed at Dana Corp. in Cape Girardeau. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Teamsters local in Cape Girardeau and had been a driver for Elfrink Truck Lines for many years. He was also a farmer and a groundskeeper for St. Isidore Council Knights of Columbus at Leopold.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Randy Engelen of Jackson; three daughters, Debbie Hester of Columbia and Brenda Engelen and Carol Ann Seiler, both of Leopold; two brothers, Leonard and Robert Engelen, both of Leopold; two sisters, Mary Ellen Wilhelm of Columbia and Glenda Wotipka of Owensville; and three grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill today after 4 p.m., with parish prayers and Knights of Columbus rosary at 7.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Johns Catholic Church, with the Rev. Bill Huggins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
