MURPHYSBORO, Ill. -- Helen Elizabeth Schoenberger, 81, of Murphysboro died Thursday, March 19, 1998, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Sept. 12, 1916, in Murphysboro, daughter of Sebastian and Frances Salpher Hauner. She and John Henry Schoenberger were married Nov. 15, 1938, in Murphysboro. He died Jan. 6, 1974.
The Schoenbergers owned and operated J&H Wholesale. She was a member of St. Andrew Church and St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include a son, Dr. John Schoenberger of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Helen Kiel and Margie O'Leary of Murphysboro, Cathy Barker of Eldorado; a sister, Augusta Bell of Cahokia; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.
Friends may call at Pettett Funeral Home in Murphysboro from 5-9 p.m. Sunday, and Monday until 9:45 a.m. The rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Andrew Church, with the Rev. Gary Gummersheimer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
