Richard D. "Gus" York, 45, of Wood River died Monday, March 30, 1998, at St. Anthony's Hospital in Alton, Ill.

He was born Feb. 11, 1953, in Cape Girardeau, son of James E. and JoAnn York Sr. He and Janet S. Schiwitz were married Dec. 25, 1973, in Rockford, Ill.

York was an operator at Clark Oil Co. in Hartford, Ill. He was a member of Wood River Moose Lodge 1349.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Adam York of the home; his father of Cherokee Village, Ark.; his mother, JoAnn Brune Long of Cape Girardeau; four brothers, James and Michael York of Cape Girardeau, Steven York of Roxana, Ill., Andy York of Collinsville, Ill.; and a sister, Jamie Olsen of Normal, Ill.

Friends may call at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights, Ill., from 4-8 p.m. Thursday.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodland Hill Cemetery at Wood River.
