JACKSON -- Jim Schnurbusch, 64, of Jackson died Friday, April 3, 1998, at his home.

He was born Aug. 30, 1933, at Old Appleton, son of Joseph and Helen Ponder Schnurbusch.

He married Emogene Burgfeld Nov. 19, 1954, in Old Appleton. She survives.

He is also survived by two sons, Scott Schnurbusch of Oak Ridge, Pat Schnurbusch of Millersville; two daughters, Lisa Biri of Jackson, Sally Dacus of Cape Girardeau; six brothers, Oscar, Clarence, Al and Bill Schnurbusch, all of St. Louis, Ruben "Rip" and Raymond "Bob" Schnurbusch, both of Old Appleton; three sisters, Bertha Untereiner of Cape Girardeau, Laura Untereiner of Uniontown, Betty Rellergert of St. Louis; six grandchildren; a step-grandson; and a step-great-grandson.

He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Jackson and was a graduate of Perryville High School. After high school, he enlisted in the Navy and served four years.

After his military career, he worked for the Schnurbusch Egg Co., and for 32 years he worked for the Kohlfeld Distributing Co., retiring in 1987.

After retiring, he worked part-time at the Benton Bestway Store.

He was a member of the Cape Girardeau Elks Lodge 639 and VFW Post 3838 of Cape Girardeau. He was past commander of American Legion Post 158 of Jackson and was a charter member of the Legion Honor Guard. He was also a charter member of the 4 Degree Color Guard for the Knights of Columbus 2099 of Jackson.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, with parish prayers at 7:30 p.m. by the 4 Degree Color Guard.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Immaculate Catholic Church in Jackson, with the Rev. Ralph Duffner officiating. Burial will be in the Russell Heights Cemetery.
