BENTON -- William Thomas Penrose, 84, of Benton died Thursday, April 9, 1998, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born Feb. 20, 1914, in Blodgett, son of Harry and Maggie Payton Penrose. He first married Wanda Mae Smith, then married C.O. Thomas, and later married Marie Venable, all of whom preceded him in death...

BENTON -- William Thomas Penrose, 84, of Benton died Thursday, April 9, 1998, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Feb. 20, 1914, in Blodgett, son of Harry and Maggie Payton Penrose. He first married Wanda Mae Smith, then married C.O. Thomas, and later married Marie Venable, all of whom preceded him in death.

Penrose was a farmer and mechanic. He had worked at Compas and Strack and at Kelly High School. He was a member of Morley Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, John and Tom Penrose of Benton; two daughters, Betty Milam of Benton, Darlene Oller of Scott City; two sisters, Zalma Woods of Sikeston, Zella Courver of St. Louis; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a grandchild.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton from 5-9 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Dale Huff officiating. Burial will be in Forrest Hills Memorial Gardens near Morley.
