SIKESTON -- Columbus R. "Ross" Taylor, 84, of Sikeston died Tuesday, April 14, 1998, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
He was born May 8, 1913, in Marble, Ark., son of William Riley and Emma Viola Suggs Taylor. He and Gladys H. Smith were married April 7, 1949, at Oran.
In addition to farming, Taylor had worked at Coca-Cola Bottling Co., Hart's Bakery, Anchor Toy, and Security Federal Savings and Loan (Roosevelt Bank).
Taylor attended Smith Avenue Church of God. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Marie Gates of Benton, Mary Brown and Connie Chaney of Sikeston; a sister, Pearl Barnett of Gaines, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. today, and Friday after noon at Smith Avenue Church.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Larry Arnold officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
