Billy E. Butler, 76, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, April 15, 1998, at Missouri Veterans Home.
He was born July 28, 1921, in Muskogee, Okla., son of Charles C. and Lucille Penley Butler. He married Veronica Mattingly.
Butler was a foreman at Union Electric 33 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral.
He was a corporal in the U.S. Army during World War II. He received the Victory Medal, American Theater Campaign Medal, EAME Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, and Distinguished Unit Badge.
Survivors include his wife; two stepsons, Wayne Mattingly of Anchorage, Alaska, Warren Mattingly of Melbourne, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Belinda Carter of St. Cloud, Fla., Yvonne Bohnert of Bartlett, Tenn.; a sister, Betty Collard of Tulsa, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel after 5 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7.
Funeral Mass will be at 9 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Cathedral, with Msgr. Richard Rolwing officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
