CARUTHERSVILLE -- Homer Wilson Barnes, 79, of Caruthersville died Thursday, April 16, 1998, in Springfield.
He was born Feb. 14, 1919, at Cullman, Ala., son of A.E. and Ellen Elizabeth Pike Barnes.
He married Virginia Bradsher on May 16, 1982, in Hayti. She died Nov. 15, 1994.
He had worked as a conductor for Frisco Railways and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hayti.
He is survived by two sons, Larry Barnes of Saratoga, Fla., and Lannie Barnes of Pensacola, Fla.; three daughters, Jana Wolfe of Springfield, Deronda Redden of Destin, Fla., and Brenda McClendon of Caruthersville; a sister, Agnes Caceres of Detroit; two brothers, John D. Barnes of Lillan, Ala., and Roy Barnes of Memphis, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and five sisters.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. today at the John W. German Funeral Home in Hayti. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bill Wolfe officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery at Hayti.
