CHAFFEE -- George A. Schwartz, 71, of Chaffee died Saturday, April 18, 1998, at St. Joseph Hospital in Kirkwood.
He was born Nov. 30, 1926, at Benton, son of Edward and Emma Compas Schwartz.
He married Bette Beahr on Nov. 22, 1944. She died March 23, 1993. He married LaVera Bucher on June 10, 1995, and she died June 18, 1997.
He was a retired test boarder for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in St. Louis. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He had lived in Chaffee since 1995 and moved to the area from Manchester. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee, the St. Ambrose Men's Club and Chaffee American Legion Post 389.
He is survived by a son, George A. Schwartz Jr. of Houston, Texas; a stepson, Ken Bucher of Ewa Beach, Hawaii; a daughter, Sue Schwartz of Manchester; a stepdaughter, Vickie Bucher of Keller, Texas; a brother, Herman Schwartz of Benton; a sister, Agnes Hixson of Toledo, Ohio; and a grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Monday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, with parish prayers at 7.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, with the Rev. Allan Saunders officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens near Morley.
