Batson, 49, was found dead Wednesday, April 22, 1998, at his home.

He was born Oct. 18, 1948, in Anna, son of Bobbie Link and Betty Jean Smith Batson.

Survivors include two daughters, Candy and Liberty of Dongola; his mother and stepfather, Betty and Fred King of Cobden; two brothers, Larry and Doug King of Cobden.
