BENTON -- Alma C. Hebenstreit, 94, of Marble Hill, formerly of Benton, died Sunday, April 26, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Oct. 13, 1903, at Benton, daughter of Joe and Mary Walters Scherer. She was married to Ben F. Hebenstreit on Sept. 3, 1928, at Benton. He died Feb. 13, 1975.

She was a homemaker in Benton for many years before moving to Bond Nursing Home in Marble Hill.

She was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Benton and a member of St. Ann Sodality in Benton.

Survivors include a son, Herman Hebenstreit of Advance; a daughter Lavada Bene of O'Fallon; a brother, Cyril Scherer of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Benton from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with parish prayers at 7.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Denis Catholic Church in Benton. The Rev. Normand Varone will officiate, with burial at St. Denis Catholic Church Cemetery.
