LILBOURN -- Mary Alice Newson, 51, of Lilbourn died Sunday, April 26, 1998, at the home of a daughter.

She was born March 27, 1947, in Tate County, Miss., daughter of Jessie and Annie B. Woods Newson.

Newson was a member of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Eddie, Atarence and Sherman Newson, all of New Madrid; two daughters, Mary Taylor of Lilbourn, Shaneka Newson of New Madrid; her father of Lilbourn; three brothers, Thomas Newson of Lilbourn, Jessie Newson Jr. of New Madrid, Jonathon Simelton of Tampa, Fla.

Other survivors include six sisters, Lillie Newson, Jessie Farr and Juanita Wigfall, all of New Madrid, Annie Newson of Lilbourn, Joann Farr of Tampa, Melissa Wigfall of Dade City, Fla.; and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, a sister, and a grandson.

Friends may call at Williams-Farr and Purnell Funeral Home in Howardville from 7-8 p.m. Friday.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Howardville Community Center, with the Rev. M.P. Tremble officiating. Burial will be in Simmons Park Cemetery at Catron.
