ADVANCE -- Joseph Alvin LaCroix, 73, of Advance died Tuesday, June 2, 1998, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born March 20, 1925, in Advance, son of Charles H. and Ruth M. Davis LaCroix. He and Ellen Heuring were married Sept. 1, 1956, in Advance. She died Dec. 29, 1997...

ADVANCE -- Joseph Alvin LaCroix, 73, of Advance died Tuesday, June 2, 1998, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 20, 1925, in Advance, son of Charles H. and Ruth M. Davis LaCroix. He and Ellen Heuring were married Sept. 1, 1956, in Advance. She died Dec. 29, 1997.

A lifelong resident of Advance, he was a graduate of Advance High School and retired as parts manager from Mirly Implement. He served many years with the volunteer fire department, and was chief four years.

LaCroix was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Elks Lodge at Chaffee, and received a life membership award from Advance VFW Post. He was a medical corpsman with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

Survivors include two brothers, Carl LaCroix of Advance, Steven LaCroix of Jacksonville, Ill.; and a sister, Verna Tippett of Boise, Idaho.

He was preceded in death by a sister.

Friends may call at Morgan Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. today. An Elks service will be held at 6:30.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church, with the Rev. Frederick Lutz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
