CARBONDALE, Ill. -- William Lynn Casper, 75, of Carbondale, formerly of Union County, died Saturday, Aug. 22, 1998, at the Abbey of Carbondale.

He was born Sept. 4, 1922, in Eldorado, son of Donald Webb and Veva Mae Bishop Casper.

He married Shirley Jean Cross on July 12, 1947, in Anna.

He was the agency manager for Country Companies Insurance for 28 years and an investment broker for A.G. Edwards for eight years before his retirement. He was a chartered life underwriter. He served in World War II, the Korean War and as company commander of the National Guard unit in Anna between the wars.

He is survived by his wife of the home; a daughter, Jacqueline Lynn McCann of Carbondale; a son, Donald William Casper of Pittsburg; two sisters, Mildred Cunningham of Jonesboro and Martha Pharis of Manteno; and three grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Larry Shacklee officiating. Interment will be in the Casper Cemetery north of Anna.
