MARGIE I. PROFFER

Margie I. Proffer, 68, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Aug. 22, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center.

She was born July 9, 1930, at Crump, daughter of Jesse and Abba Proffer Proffer. She and Ora "Bud" Proffer were married on March 22, 1948. He died March 25, 1991.

She was a resident of Cape Girardeau all her married life. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include two sons, Ora Kevin Proffer and Karl G. Proffer, both of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Zedith Jackson of Cape Girardeau, Beverly Altenthal of Whitewater and Marilyn Pursley of Independence; two brothers, Troy Proffer of Millersville and J.W. Proffer of Jackson; two sisters, Lucille Rhodes of Crump and Ruth Taylor of Burfordville; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Revs. Luther Rhodes and Mike Huffman will officiate, with burial at the Proffer Cemetery in Crump.
