James E. Zimmerman, age 73, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., passed away Sunday, Sept. 13, 1998, at Southeast Missouri Hospital. James E. Zimmerman, age 73, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., passed away Sunday, Sept. 13, 1998, at Southeast Missouri Hospital. He was born February 2, 1925, in Fornfelt, Mo., to the late Parker L. and Lydia M. Story Zimmerman.

Mr. Zimmerman worked as a pipefitter in construction throughout Southeast Missouri.

He was a member of Local Union #344 out of Oklahoma City, Okla.

He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Army Air Corps.

On December 23, 1951 he married the former Evelyn Jean Pattengill in Piggott, Ark.

He was an active member of the Lynwood Baptist Church where he was a member of the Kingsmen Sunday School Class. He was also a member of St. Mark's Lodge #93 A.F. & A.M. He attended schools in Cape Girardeau and Scott County. Mr. Zimmerman did volunteer work at the Missouri Veterans Home.

Survivors include his wife Evelyn J. Zimmerman of Cape Girardeau; a son and daughter-in-law, L. Parker and Jonalyn Zimmerman of Springfield, Mo.; a daughter, Alice A. Zimmerman of Dallas, Tex.; a grandson, Ryan Parker Zimmerman of Springfield, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 16, 1998 at 10:30 a.m. at Lynwood Baptist Church, the Rev. Mark Anderson officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel, Tuesday, Sept. 15 between 4:00 and 8:00 pm. Masonic services will be held at 7:00 p.m.

Tuesday, Sept. 15 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Vernon Hopkins, Gene Loftis, Richard Karrakar, Everette Estes, Larry Bannister and Eugene Holloway, Sr.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Shelter Fund at Lynwood Baptist Church.
