BARBARA CHILDERS

COBDEN, Ill. -- Funeral for Barbara Childers of Cobden will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden. The Rev. Becky Lembke will officiate, with burial in Cobden Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Friday.

Childers, 78, died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 1998, at Union County Hospital in Anna.

She was born Aug. 12, 1920, in Cobden, daughter of Ralph W. and Emma Benham Griffith.

Childers retired as postmaster at Alto Pass Post Office.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Childers of Midland, Mich., David Childers of Anna; two daughters, Ellen Hammers of Paducah, Ky., Mary Stewart of Edmond, Okla.; a brother, Ralph "Bud" Griffith of Cobden; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
