John "Albert" Uhl of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, September 30, 1998 at St. Francis Medical Center, at the age of 93. He was born on December 7, 1904 in Cape Girardeau, the son of William and Margaretha Caroline Job Uhl. He married Julitta T. Wibbenmeyer on November 27, 1941 at Cape Girardeau. She preceded him in death on January 31, 1994...

John "Albert" Uhl of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, September 30, 1998 at St. Francis Medical Center, at the age of 93.

He was born on December 7, 1904 in Cape Girardeau, the son of William and Margaretha Caroline Job Uhl. He married Julitta T. Wibbenmeyer on November 27, 1941 at Cape Girardeau. She preceded him in death on January 31, 1994.

Mr. Uhl graduated from Central High School in 1922 and from the Cape Girardeau Business College in 1923.

Uhl was the secretary-treasurer of the Cape Girardeau Savings and Loan Association where he was employed for forty-four years. As an appraiser for the Veterans Administration, he was recognized for a record of over thirty years of service.

Mr. Uhl was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and was active in the old St. Joseph School Association, which financed the parish school. He was a seventy-three year member of the Knights of Columbus.

Uhl was an avid hunter and was quoted in several firearms books and journals. He played drums in area dance bands from the 1920's through the 1940's.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Margaret and Scott Browning of Cape Girardeau, a daughter, Barbara Uhl of St. Louis, three grandchildren, Ramelle Browning and Rhett Browning of Cape Girardeau and Alyssa Browning of St. Louis.

Visitation will be Friday 5 - 7:30 p.m. at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. Parish prayers will be at 6:30 and KC Rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday with Msgr. Richard Rolwing officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
