DEXTER -- Katie Wood, 85, of Dexter died Monday, Oct. 5, 1998, at Crowley Ridge Care Center. She was born Feb. 9, 1913, in Lawrenceburg, Tenn. She and Carl O. Wood were married in 1971. He died Dec. 21, 1991. Wood had lived in Tennessee many years, moving to Dexter in 1971. She was a member of Vinson General Baptist Church...

DEXTER -- Katie Wood, 85, of Dexter died Monday, Oct. 5, 1998, at Crowley Ridge Care Center.

She was born Feb. 9, 1913, in Lawrenceburg, Tenn. She and Carl O. Wood were married in 1971. He died Dec. 21, 1991.

Wood had lived in Tennessee many years, moving to Dexter in 1971. She was a member of Vinson General Baptist Church.

Survivors include two stepsons, John Wood of Dexter, Tom Wood of Bloomfield; two stepdaughters, Anna Freeman of Port Byron, Ill., Carlotta Mace of Colona, Ill.; a sister, Polly Swinea of Stow, Ohio; 13 stepgrandchildren; several great-stepgrandchildren and great-great-stepgrandchildren.

Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joe Williams officiating. Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery.
