SIKESTON -- Ray Lambert, 81, of Sikeston died Saturday, Oct. 10, 1998, at Sikeston Health Care.
He was born May 27, 1917, at Brilliant, Ala., the son of Charlie Wheeler and Autie Ethel Nelson Lambert. He and Eileen Smith were married on April 5, 1941, at Charleston.
Lambert served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Phillipines. He was wounded in action in March 1945 and received two purple hearts and two bronze stars.
He was a farmer in the Sikeston area. He was a member of Shady Acres Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Ronnie Lambert of Sikeston; three brothers, Cecil Lambert, Enfield "Buddy" Lambert and Doyle Lambert, all of Sikeston; three sisters, Annell Jones of Sikeston, Maxine White of Wynne, Ark., and Eugenia Bass of Santa Ana, Calif.; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, a brother and two sisters.
Friends may call from 5 - 8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel. The Rev. Pat Hogan will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Johnny Hester, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
