MATTHEWS -- Roy Elwood Pickett, 80, of Matthews died Friday, Oct. 16, 1998, at his home.
He was born Jan. 8, 1918, in Manila, Ark., son of Elijah Hugh and Mamie Estella Nelson Pickett. He and Martha E. Shortz were married June 30, 1953.
Pickett was a retired farmer. He was a charter member of Sikeston Eagles 3319, and received an outstanding member award in 1997. He attended Fellowship Baptist Church in Sikeston.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Eleanor Strauser of Dexter; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter and three brothers.
Friends may call at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ted Wimberley officiating. Burial will be in Mounds Park Cemetery at Lilbourn.
