Mabel Whitehead McCaslin, 93, of Pontiac, Mich., formerly of Bernie, died Saturday, Oct. 17, 1998, at Greenery Health Care Center in Clarkton, Mich.

She was born Oct. 11, 1905, at Bernie, daughter of William and Suda Crump Whitehead.

She was born and reared in the Bernie area but had lived in Michigan for the past 65 years. She was a member of the Apostolic Church of Christ at Pontiac and was active in the Salvation Army for many years.

She is survived by two brothers, Vernis Whitehead of Metamora, Mich., and Dayton Whitehead of Bernie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Rainey Funeral Home in Bernie. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Maxwell Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in the Smith-Stevenson Cemetery in Dexter.
