DEXTER -- Bland Dennington, 98, of Gideon died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 1998, at Gideon Care Center in Gideon.
He was born April 27, 1900, near Essex, son of Joseph and Mary Cannon Dennington. He and Gertie Bell Menley were married Nov. 7, 1921, at Dexter. She died Dec. 8, 1982.
Dennington was a retired farmer, and had lived in Southeast Missouri all his life.
Survivors include a son, James Dennington of Malden; four daughters, June Patterson of Bethel Springs, Tenn., Ruth Tippen of St. Louis, Mary Wells and Maxine Steward of Poplar Bluff; 17 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant son.
Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Triplett Cemetery near Dexter.
