ANNA, Ill. -- Bon Elam Edwards, 85, of Anna died Friday, Oct. 23, 1998, at the Union County Hospital in Anna.

He was born Jan. 24, 1913, at Reynoldsville, son of John Quincy and Jennie Frances Elam Edwards. He was married to Freda Merriman on Dec. 23, 1937, at Jackson, Mo.

He had attended the New Hope Baptist Church and was a retired truck driver and a member of Union Local 710.

He is survived by his wife, of Anna; a daughter, Carol Delsoe of Alsip; a son, Bon Edwards Jr. of Killingsworth, Conn.; a brother, Carl Edwards of Anna; a sister, Lorraine Vavrick of Jonesboro; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.

Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Lutz & Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna, with the Rev. DeWayne Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Ebenezer Hall Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.
