CHAFFEE -- Bessie Ford, 89, of Chaffee died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 1998, at Heartland Care Rehab Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Sept. 13, 1909, in St. Louis, daughter of John Marshall and Alice Finney. She and Cline G. Ford were married Feb. 28, 1934, in Cape Girardeau. He died Aug. 24, 1978.

Ford retired as a sewing machine operator from Florsheim Shoe Co., and also retired as head cook at Chaffee Nutrition Center.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and had taught Sunday School. She was a member of Chaffee Business and Professional Women and was a former Woman of the Year.

Survivors include two daughters, Karen Kluba of Gaithersburg, Md., Sharon Anglin of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Henry Philbert of Lockport, Ill., Dr. John Finney of Cape Girardeau; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, sister and three grandchildren.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee after 4 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Calvary Church, with the Rev. Jack Bishop officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
