PUXICO -- Mary Ellen Davis, 79, of Puxico died Friday, Oct. 30, 1998, at Lucy Lee Hospital in Poplar Bluff.
She was born June 17, 1919, in Greenbriar, daughter of Edd and Rose Summers Buttry. She and Carmen "Arch" Davis were married Dec. 16, 1939, at Bloomfield. He died April 22, 1991.
Davis worked at Inland Shoe Co. in Advance 25 years, retiring as an inspector. She was a member of Puxico General Baptist Church. She had lived in the Puxico and Kinder communities all her life.
Survivors include a son, Dwane Davis of St. Johns; a foster son, Dick Buttry of Puxico; a foster daughter, Connie Cookson of Puxico; two brothers, Willie Buttry of Puxico, Jewell Buttry of Mazon, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by a son, six brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico from 4:30-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Revs. John Buttry and Kenneth Lambert officiating. Burial will be in Brown Cemetery near Puxico.
