ADVANCE -- Leon "Red" Richmond, 77, of Advance died Thursday, Dec. 10, 1998, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Feb. 15, 1921, in Advance, daughter of James and Nealy Stroup Richmond. He and Jean Hamby were married May 10, 1952, in Piggott, Ark.

Richmond worked in the parts department at Mirly Implement and Trucking Co. 27 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received three Bronze Stars. Richmond was a life member of Advance VFW Post.

He was a 1939 graduate of Advance High School.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Larry and David Richmond of Advance; a daughter, Cynthia Neighbors of Wappapello; three grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and two stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call at Morgan Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. James Brice officiating. Burial will be in Morgan Memorial Park.
