VILLA RIDGE, Ill. -- Orville L. Billingsley, 82, of Villa Ridge died Friday, Dec. 25, 1998, at his home.

He was born on Jan. 31, 1916, at Buncombe, son of Owen and Ruth Elkins Billingsley.

He resided in Richmond, Calif., for many years. He was a retired police captain for the Richmond Police Department. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mounds.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Clifford Billingsley; two sons, Robert D. Billingsley of Eldorado, Calif., and Stanley J. Billingsley of Hayward, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Brenda Berryhill of Cape Girardeau; a stepson, Steve Clifford of Mounds; two sisters, Myrtle Lindsey of Cairo and Lois D. Graf of Granite City; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Clifford Billingsley; an infant daughter; his parents; a brother and a sister.

There will no visitation or service. McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau handled the local arrangements.
