LaVerne D. Grass, 65, of Perryville died Friday, Oct. 31, 1997, in Southeast Missouri Hospital. She was born March 15, 1932, in Perry County, the daughter of Oscar "Booby" and Paula Weinhold Hacker. She was married to Erwin Grass on July 8, 1948. She belonged to Zion Lutheran Church in Longtown, Perry County Historical Society and was a life member of American Veterans Auxiliary, Post 94 in Chaplin. ...

LaVerne D. Grass, 65, of Perryville died Friday, Oct. 31, 1997, in Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She was born March 15, 1932, in Perry County, the daughter of Oscar "Booby" and Paula Weinhold Hacker. She was married to Erwin Grass on July 8, 1948.

She belonged to Zion Lutheran Church in Longtown, Perry County Historical Society and was a life member of American Veterans Auxiliary, Post 94 in Chaplin. In her retirement years, she became one of the family historians for the "Hacker and Weinhold" family.

Survivors include, her husband of Longtown, a daughter, Janice Eckert of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Wilbert Hacker of Perryville; and two step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 9 on Sunday and from 6:30 to 9 a.m. Monday at the Young and Sons Chapel Funeral Home. An AmVets Auxiliary Wake will be held at 7 Sunday

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday Zion Lutheran Church in Longtown, with the Rev. Paul Winningham officiating. Burial will take place in Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
