William Engle Strain, 87, of Gilbertsville, Ky., died Sunday, Nov. 2, 1997, at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Ky. He was born Oct. 23, 1910, in Scott County, son of William F. and Molly Gassway Strain. He and Kathryn A. Alfultis were married 66 years. She preceded him in death...

William Engle Strain, 87, of Gilbertsville, Ky., died Sunday, Nov. 2, 1997, at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Ky.

He was born Oct. 23, 1910, in Scott County, son of William F. and Molly Gassway Strain. He and Kathryn A. Alfultis were married 66 years. She preceded him in death.

Strain had worked at Meid-Johnson in Evansville, Ind., and at International Shoe Co. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Benton, Ky. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include a sister, Emma Davis of Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel, with Dr. Larry Gallamore officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park.

Friends may call at the chapel after 9 a.m. Wednesday.
