BERNIE -- Margel Ray "Pete" Boles, 58, of Bernie died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 1997, at his home. He was born June 16, 1939, in Huntsville, Ala., son of Ed and Melissa Watwood Boles. He and Cynthia Rushing were married July 5, 1984, in Stoddard County. Boles was a retired farmer. He was formerly of Anniston, but had resided in Stoddard County since 1982...

BERNIE -- Margel Ray "Pete" Boles, 58, of Bernie died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 1997, at his home.

He was born June 16, 1939, in Huntsville, Ala., son of Ed and Melissa Watwood Boles. He and Cynthia Rushing were married July 5, 1984, in Stoddard County.

Boles was a retired farmer. He was formerly of Anniston, but had resided in Stoddard County since 1982.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Arthur Boles of Flint, Mich., Margel Boles Jr. of Bernie; four daughters, Ginger Phillips of Doniphan, Barbara Smith of Flint, Melissa Cobb of Poplar Bluff, Ruth Boles of Bernie; three stepsons, Clinton Rushing of East Prairie, Gary Rushing of Gideon, and Bert Rushing of Charleston.

Also surviving are two stepdaughters, Carol Rushing of Bloomfield, Crystal Rushing of Dexter; two brothers, James Boles of Hazel Green, Ala., John Allen of Poplar Bluff; a sister, Louise Hatchett of Shelby, Miss.; and 21 grandchildren.

Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter after noon Friday.

Graveside service will be in Hagy Cemetery at Dexter at 1:30 p.m. Friday, with the Rev. James Niederstadt officiating.
