ALTO PASS, Ill. -- Steven C. Harris, 50, of Alto Pass, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 1997, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. He was born Nov. 19, 1947, in Anna, son of Charles Marion and Alberta Stroehlein Harris. Harris was an accountant in the Department of Student Development at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. ALTO PASS, Ill. -- Steven C. Harris, 50, of Alto Pass, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 1997, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.

He was born Nov. 19, 1947, in Anna, son of Charles Marion and Alberta Stroehlein Harris.

Harris was an accountant in the Department of Student Development at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. He was a member of Cobden American Legion Post 259. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his mother of Alto Pass; a sister, Donna Hubbs of Alto Pass; two brothers, David Harris of Alto Pass, Dennis Harris of Henderson, Nev.; maternal grandmother, Ruth Stroehlein of Cobden; and paternal grandmother, Maggie Harris of Anna.

Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Alto Pass from 5-8:30 p.m. Friday.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gilbert Gee officiating. Burial will be in Alto Pass Cemetery.
