CHARLESTON -- James Patrick Whitney, 18, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 1997, at his home. He was born March 4, 1979, in Charleston, son of Pearl Whitney of Sikeston and Fred Johnson Sr. of Cairo, Ill. He was a student at Charleston High School. CHARLESTON -- James Patrick Whitney, 18, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 1997, at his home.

He was born March 4, 1979, in Charleston, son of Pearl Whitney of Sikeston and Fred Johnson Sr. of Cairo, Ill.

He was a student at Charleston High School.

He is survived by his parents; 10 brothers, Narvis Whitney of Charleston, Fred Whitney and Michael Whitney, both of Phoenix, Ariz., Fredrick Johnson, Darryl Johnson and Henry Johnson, all of Cairo, the Rev. Fred Johnson Jr. of Paducah, Ky., Carletus Jackson, Lowell Johnson and Sylvester Johnson, all of Memphis, Tenn; nine sisters, Bobbie Whitney, Ida Whitney and Melissa Whitney, all of Charleston, Ruby Johnson of Joliet, Ill., Gloria Johnson, Barbara Johnson, Lorraine Johnson, Liz Johnson and Matilda Johnson, all of Cairo.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Sparks Funeral Home in Charleston.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Opportunity Church of God in Christ, with the Rev. Steve Betts officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Charleston.
