MOREHOUSE -- Funeral service for James Doyle Waters of Morehouse will be held at 1 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Morehouse. Woodrow Phillips will officiate, with burial in Matthews Cemetery at Matthews.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until service time.

Waters, 66, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 1997, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

He was born Feb. 23, 1931, in Morrilton, Ark., son of George and Pearl Hill Waters. He and Ann R. Richards were married Aug. 14, 1964, in Kirkland, Ill. She died Jan. 29, 1987.

Formerly of Illinois and Tennessee, Waters had lived at Morehouse the past 20 years. He was a farm laborer, and member of Church of Christ.

Survivors include a stepson, Eddie Brown of Kirkland; a stepdaughter, Joan Scott of Chicago; two brothers, Wilford Waters of Morehouse, and Jack Waters of Charter Oak.

He was preceded in death by three brothers.
