Irvin Lee Bentley, 54, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Dec. 21, 1997, at his home. He was born July 19, 1943, at Wellsville, son of Lloyd and Ethel Loren White Bentley. He married Shirley Owen on July 17, 1970, at Mexico, Mo. Bentley worked as a Cape Girardeau firefighter for 13 years. He worked for Wellsville Fire Brick and Mouteel Construction. He was also a self-employed electrician. He had been disabled for the last four years...

Irvin Lee Bentley, 54, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Dec. 21, 1997, at his home.

He was born July 19, 1943, at Wellsville, son of Lloyd and Ethel Loren White Bentley. He married Shirley Owen on July 17, 1970, at Mexico, Mo.

Bentley worked as a Cape Girardeau firefighter for 13 years. He worked for Wellsville Fire Brick and Mouteel Construction. He was also a self-employed electrician. He had been disabled for the last four years.

He was a member of the Wellsville Baptist Church and the Eagles Aerie.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Kevin Bentley of Athens, Tenn., and Clint Bentley of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Cheryl Knapp of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Cindy Ainsworth of Whitewater; three sisters, Helen Wood and Alice Tratchell, both of Montgomery City, and Linda Glieser of Topeka, Kan.; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Terry Deckard officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park.
