CHARLESTON -- Albert Edward Golden, 87, of Charleston, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, at the Veterans Medical Center in Poplar Bluff. He was born Feb. 7, 1910 in Missouri, son of Gaulf and Dolly Golden. He married Florence Geneva Goodwin on Sept. 22, 1953. She preceded him in death Aug. 29, 1988...

CHARLESTON -- Albert Edward Golden, 87, of Charleston, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, at the Veterans Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

He was born Feb. 7, 1910 in Missouri, son of Gaulf and Dolly Golden.

He married Florence Geneva Goodwin on Sept. 22, 1953. She preceded him in death Aug. 29, 1988.

He was employed with Missouri Rowling Steel Co. in St. Louis, 30 years. He lived in Charleston the past 30 years, and worked for the city 13 years before his retirement in 1996. He served in the Air Force. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include sons, Danny Golden of Dexter, the Rev. Glen Golden of Delta, and Samuel Cox of Poplar Bluff; daughters, Betty Moritz of Bloomsdale, Beverly Blanker of Branson and Teresa Witherspoon of Charleston; 17 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Service will be held at 1 p.m. today at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, with the Rev. Glen Golden, pastor of First Baptist Church of Delta, officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call after 10 a.m. today until the funeral hour.
