HERBERT J. NEELS

PERRYVILLE -- Herbert J. Neels, 68, of Perryville died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 1997, at his home.

He was born Oct. 29, 1929, in Belgique, the son of Leo and Matilda L'Hote Neels. On May 1, 1954, he married Thelma Moll at Belgique.

He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish, Holy Name Society and the Belgique Cemetery board of directors. He was a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. He had been a farmer before retirement.

He is survived by his wife, of the home; two daughters, Sr. Pamela Neels of Alameda, Calif. and Deborah Geringer of Perryville; Three sons, Tim Neels of Perryville, John Neels of Wentzville and Scott Neels of St. Charles; three sisters, Ruth Neels of St. Louis, Rosalie Mueller of Baldwin and Ann Cissell of Perryville; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Visitation will be held from 4 p,.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 6:30 a.m. to 9:50 a.m. Saturday, with the rosary recited at 9 a.m. at Miller Family Funeral Home. Funeral Mass begins at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville, Father Kevin Fausz, C.M. officiating. Burial will follow at Belgique Cemetery.
