Funeral service for the Rev. Clarence Edward Fleshman of Cape Girardeau will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel. The Revs. Harold Fleshman and Bill Ross will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.

Friends may call at the chapel from 2-5 p.m. Sunday.

Fleshman, 87, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 1997, at the Lutheran Home.

He was born Feb. 4, 1909, in Del Norte, Colo., son of Edward Louis and Annie Wilford Fleshman. He and Mildred A. Arthur were married April 9, 1927. She died Jan. 21, 1976.

Fleshman was a Nazarene minister 62 years. He helped build the first Church of the Nazarene in Cape Girardeau in 1941. He pastored the congregation from 1938-1953. In 1968 he helped build Church of Bible Covenant and was pastor two years.

He then lived in Peoria, Ill., and Blytheville, Ark., was an evangelist from 1961-70, moved to Peoria again, and then retired in 1973 and moved back to Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include a son, the Rev. Harold Fleshman of Denver, Colo.; a daughter, Linda Tichenor of Springfield; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
